Frequently Asked Questions

Please contact us at kurdishadventures@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

There is a visa on arrival available at Erbil International Airport or go to this website and buy it online https://visit.gov.krd/

The visa is $75.

Note that this visa is only valid for the Kurdistan region, not for Federal Iraq.

Erbil has an International airport with lots of connections.

If you are traveling from anywhere in Europe, you can travel through Lufthansa or Air France, the best way to come is via Istanbul (either Pegasus or Turkish Airlines). If you are coming from America, you also have the option of coming via Doha or Dubai.

Compared to other areas of Iraq, Kurdistan is generally considered safe for foreigners. The region has its own security forces, and there is less violence and conflict than in other parts of the country.

You will pay a $500 non-refundable down payment through PayPal. Then you will bring the rest of the payment in cash because it's a cash-only country-Preferably $100/$50 bills USD. If you don't have access to USD we accept Euros as well.

You will pay a $500 non-refundable down payment. Since the rest of the payment will be brought in cash there will not be any money to refund.

We recommend you bring extra cash for yourself, outside of the cost of the trip, if you are going to want to buy souvenirs, clothes, etc. In saying that, depending on the time you arrive we will go that night or the next day to exchange your extra spending money to Dinar (Iraqi money.)

We plan to have everyone meet for breakfast in the hotel at 8:30 a.m.. Most mornings we plan to start our adventure at 9 a.m.! We plan to end the night at 11 p.m.

Winter- Make sure you bring layers. In the day you may only need pants and a long sleeve, but when the sun goes down you'll want to bundle back up! Pants, Long sleeves, t-shirts, hoodies, and a warm jacket!

Spring- Spring is when we get some of the nicest weather in Kurdistan! Pants, T-shirts, long sleeves/Hoodies, Bring a jacket just in case it gets a little chilly on the mountain tops in the evenings/nights!

Summer- If you like the hot then summer's for you!! Pants, T-Shirts.

(We suggest that girls dress very modestly to be respectful of the culture.)

Fall/Autumn- The autumn weather here is nice, coming from the hot summer starting to cool down giving a great mix of warmth in the day and cool breezy nights! Pants, T-shirts, Long sleeves/Hoodies just like spring bring a jacket for the mountain tops!

  • The Kurdish people are very welcoming and love foreigners, so expect to get lots of attention! Staring, asking for pictures, just coming up trying to speak English, and things like this.
  • If you are a female coming to visit Kurdistan we recommend dressing modestly. For example, wearing T-shirts instead of Tank tops or wearing pants/capris instead of shorts.
  • Western toilets are becoming more common but still expect to find many eastern toilets. Toilet paper is also rare, you will mostly see bidet sprayers.
